MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHEISTCHUECH. Feiday, Octobee 19. [Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., E.M.j Miscellaneous. — Catherine Nelson was lined 10s for drunkenness, and 2s cab hire. Eobert Taylor and Daisy Cornfoot wore charged with being illegally on premises in St. Asaph street. The man pleaded hard to be let off, as he had a contract in Little Eivcr district, and ho had gone on the premises merely because the drink had got the better of him. His wife, who had come to town for medical advice, had accompanied him for the purpose of taking care of him. His Worship remarked that going upon the premises in the way complained of was fraught with the greatest danger, as drunken men were proverbially careless with matches, and half the town might come to be burned down in that way. He was inclined to send the accused to gaol, without the option of a fine, but, considering the circumstances of the parties, the' man would be lined -10 s, the woman 20s. Larceny of a Watch. —Francis Albert Crompton, alias Cunningham, was charged with the larceny of watch, value £3. He said that he was not guilty in the least. Inspector Buckley stated that the larceny had been committed in April last, and he asked for a remand till Monday. Eemand granted.
