PARLIAMENTARY INCIDENTS.

ATTITUDE OF THE OPPOSITION. [fbom tiie correspondent of the press.] Wellington, Oct. 16, 8 p.m. Sir George Grey's statement, is considered very unsatisfactory hero. The question on which it is felt, that the Government have no coherence, the land fund, was shirked. A vote of want of confidence, to he moved by Mr Curtis or Mr Stafford, is talked of, and the mere personnel of the Government is said to be sufficient ground for an immediate motion, but the Opposition will probably wait until the Government financial proposals are brought down. There are only some thirtythree members on whom the Government can rely. The difficulty of obtaining members of the Ministry in the Upper House is not yet solved. Mr Buckley, Sir P. Dillon Bell, and Mr H. R. Russell aro all said to have been communicated with, but nothing is jet settled. Nothing contentious is likely to come forward to-night. The Public Reserves Sale Bill is now in committee. The Lyttelton Harbor Board Land Bill is to come on for second reading next. The Public Health Amendment Act is printed, making all property in the Christ - church Drainage District liable to bo rated for the purposes of the Public Health Act, the Board to fix an amount not exceeding twopence in the pound, and the rate to bo paid to the Local Board of Health. [per phess agenoy.l It is understood that an attack is to be made with the object of unseating the present Government, but that it will not take place till after the Financial Statement is delivered.
