It is stated on good authority that after various attempts by Mr Larnach to form a Ministry, at the meeting yesterday afternoon it was finally carried by a majority of 27 to 5 that Sir George Grey should be entrusted with the leadership, and further resolutions were carried that Sir G. Grey should inform the Governor that he was prepared to form a Ministry, on the condition that the Governor would grant a dissolution if Sir G. Grey could not command a majority in the House. Sir G. Grey has formed a Ministry, but the names are not divulged. They will probably be announced to-night, and the House will adjourned till Monday. The Ministry will probably contain Messrs Reader Wood, Sheehan and Travers. Sir G. Grey has been very cautious about his policy, and has not satisfied his party as to what it will be. Many members left the caucus yesterday, and hold themselves aloof and tree to take any action. It is generally thought that Sir G. Grey’s Ministry cannot last.
