MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHUECII. Satubday September 2n. (Before G-. L. Mellisli, Esq., R.M., and J. Marshman, Esq., j.P.) DBTWKBNNBSS. —Charles Edward Trounce was fined 40s, and W. Ogill the same amount. Mr Mellish remarked that the last-named spent every sixpence lie earned in drink, and left his wife and little children to starve; truly a most manly thing. The accused had better cultivate a greater sense of shame, and be more careful of his conduct in future, as he was running up a long sheet. One first offender, brought, up on remand, was fined 10s. . Neglected Children.—H. P. Lewis and W. E. Lewis, brothers, aged respectively seven and six years, were brought before the Bench as neglected children. Evidence was led to show the mother of the boys was dead, that their father drank considerably and neglected them almost entirely, as they 'seldom got any warm food, and their pereong we're in an uncleanly stitte. They were ordered to be sent to the Industrial School for seven years, to be brought up in the Church of England religion.
