The Thomas Brown, with a cargo of timber, sailed from Hobart Town for this port on September 18th. She comes to W. H. Hargreaves. The brig Emperor, with a cargo of coal, also for Mr Hargreaves, left Newcastle for Lyttelton on September 24th. The John Knox arrived at Sydney from this port on September 16th. The Sea Spray and Sea Shell arrived at Newcastle on September 15th, the Fawn on the 17th, and the Island City on the 18th. The Neptune and Bob3'cito left Newcastle for this port on the 17th inst. AEEIVAL OF THE SILAS FISH, [From the “Guardian.”] A barque showing American colors, standing in for the Heads, was reported from the Pilot Station at Taiaroa Heads yesterday morning, and at 9.20 a.m, she was made out to be the Silas Fish, which left New York in company with the Herbert Black on the 29th May, and has consequently made a passage three days longer than the former vessel, which occupied 114 days f #m port to port, the Silas Fish having taken 117 days. She was met outside the Heads by the tug Kopntai, and Captain M'Donald offered his services to bring the vessel up to the anchorage. Arrangements having been made, the Silas Fish was taken in tow, and brought to a convenient discharging berth off Carey's Bay at 1.20 p.m. She was promptly boarded by the Customs officials, and cleared in without delay. The Silas Fish is a smart-looking barque, built of wood, and is evidently kept in capital trim. She brings a large cargo of American goods, amounting to 1145 tons, of which 175 tons is intended for this port, 175 tons for Lyttelton, and the remaining part for Wellington. [ SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Timaru, September 26. Arrived—Annie Bond, from Newcastle, after a smart passage of twelve days. Sailed —Taurauga, schooner, for Dunedin. Grey.-.ioutk, September 26. The Lioness last night, while towing the ketch Argus, from Kaiapoi, took ground, and hung for about an horn - , ultimately getting off. The ketch was stranded on the north beach. Port Chalmers, September 26. Arrived New Zealand Shipping Company’s Waimea, 1600 tons cargo, fifteen passengers, half cargo for Blulf.
