[By Telegraph.] [per press agency.] HOUSE OE REPRESENTATIVES. Wednesday, September 26. The House met at 2.60 p in. QUESTIONS. In reply to questions from Mr Macfarlune, The Hon. C. C. Bowen promised a number of returns relating to Resident Magistrates and Supreme Courts. In reply to Mr M'acundrew, the lion. ('. C. Bowen said that G-overuumut, in the present transition state of the law, was not justified in incurring the expense of supplying the Courts with Mr Barton’s “ Practical Statues of New Zealand.” In reply to Mr Macandrew, the Hon. F. Whitaker said he would next year introduce a Bill for the protection of seine fisheries in the harbor during spawning season. In reply to a member, the Hon. C. C. ham case, heard, in the Christchurch R.M. Court, In reply to Mr Wakefield, the Hon. C. C. Bowen said that the Board offices would be temporarily used as a Court-house at Geraldine till better provision could be made. NEW BILLS. The following Bills were introduced: — Forest Trees Planting Encouragement Act Amendment Bill (Mr Harper), Public Libraries Bill (Mr Wakefield), Registration of Dogs Bill (Mr Wakefield), Canterbury Rivers Act Amendment Bill No. 2 (the Hon. E. Whitaker), WANT OF CONFIDENCE. Mr Laenach gave notice of the following motion—“ That the House disapproves of the action of Government in continuing to publish the “ Waka Maori ” newspaper at the public expense, in defiance of a vote of the House, and in allowing its columns to be used for the publication of libellous matter.” The Hon. F. Whitaker said the Government would accept this as a vote of want of confidence, and accordingly moved the adjournment of the House till to-morrow, when the motion will be proceeded with. The House rose at 3.30 p.m. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wednesday, September 26. On the motion of the Hon. Mr Hall, a Bill was read for the first time to provide for the incorporation of agricultural and pastoral societies in New Zealand. The second reading was fixed for Friday. On the motion of Mr Mantell, a return was ordered showing all analyses of metalliferous rocks and ores containing gold, silver, lead, copper, antimony, zinc, and tin, which have been made at the Colonial Laboratory since its institution.
