BOARD OF HEALTH.

Monday, Judy 23. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Board of Health was held at noon. Present — Messrs Hobbs (chairman), Duncan, Tartcred, Ross, and Harman. inspector's report. The report of the inspector was read. He reported having made a house to house inspection of Addington, and found the condition of the district satisfactory. He also referred to the mode of disposing of the drainage at the Addington Gaol, which was highly unsatisfactory. It was resolved that a letter be sent to the authorities respecting the mode of disposal of the drainage of the Addington Gaol. RIGHTS OF WAY. A letter was read from Mr Thomson, calling attention lo the fold state of the right-of-way between Lichfield and Colombo streets, which was the cause of disease. It was resolved to refer the let for to the City Council. STAGNANT WATER. A letter was read from Mr Charles Kiver, jun., calling attention to the existence of a large amount of stagnant water on a section in Tuam street east. It was decided to forward the letter to the City Council. A letter was read from several residents on the Ferry road, asking that the pool of water on Mr Wilson’s land should be allowed to remain without being tilled up until October next. It was decided to reply that the permission as asked was granted at last meeting of the Board. PUBLIC HEALTH ACT. The report of the committee appointed to consider the amendments necessary to bo made in the Public Health Act was brought up and read. After some discussion, the report was adopted. The Board then adjourned.
