CAB L'B NEWS. [per press agency.] AUSTRALIAN. Sydney, July 21. There is very little alteration in commercial matters. The Commercial Bank has declared a dividend of 25 per cent. The reserve is now £425,000. The Government have abandoned their intention of obtaining ironclads. INTERPROVINCIAL. Colonial Industry. Dunedin, July 20. At a meeting of avtiisans and others in the Temperance Hall, last night, at which 1000 persons were present, the following resolutions wore carried: —" That this meeting of artisans and others desires to call the attention of the Government to the present state of trade, and hereby protests against the importation of rolling stock, steamboats, dredges, &c, required for the public service, and pledges itself to use every legitimate means to stop that importation." " That this meeting views the importation of rolling stock, steamboats, dredges, &c, required for the public service as an injustice to us who have been induced by the Government to emigrate in the assurance of finding constant employment, and detrimental to the best, interests of the colony." "That this meeting is of opinion that the importation of such work as has been referred to in the foregoing resolutions is unnecessary ; that it can be manufactured here ; and that it is the duty of the Government to encourage colonial industry."
