[by submarine cable, per press agency.] The Russians Across the Danube at Sistova. Wellington, July 1. The following telegram has been received by the Government : London, June 29. The Grand Duke and two corps of the Russian army have crossed the Danube at Sistova. Stocks appear to rise with the Russian successes.

The Champion Boat Rate Won by Trickett. Sydney, June 30. In the Champion Boat-race Trickett beat Rush with the greatest case, by six lengths, in 23min. 9sec. He was never asked to pull after the first mile. The s.s. City of New York sailed on Friday for Auckland.

[pee press agency,] New Plymouth, June 30. The Hon. Donald Reid arrived yesterday. He visited Waitara to-day, and will go to Inglewood and return to Wellington, via Patea, on Monday. [prom a correspondent of the press.] Dunedin, June 30. The constabulary were sworn in by the Mayor to-day. Only three have resigned in this district.
