Sir Neville Chamberlain has been offered the command of the expedition. The Chinese immigration to Queensland is expected greatly to decrease, owing to the opening of the tea season. Markets. —Hennessy’s case, 31s 3d to 31s 6d; quarters, 9s 3d ; kerosene, 2s 3d to 2s 4d. Rice—Patna, £2O to £2l; Adelaide flour, from £l9 6s to £l9 8s ; most holders ask £l9 8s 3d. New Zealand wheat is very unsaleable. The only buyers are for export to England at 5s 5d to 6s; New Zealand oats, 3s; New Zealand bran, Is Id to Is 2d; tobacco, unchanged ; Belmont sperms, 10 Id to 10jd.

The schooner Coronet brought machinery for the new Copra Oil Mill. Some of the principal merchants have formed an association to work the venture. The residents of Onchunga have abandoned the proposal to form an artillery corps, Dr. Pollen stating that there are no guns available. The residents proposed to start a Volunteer Engineer Corps.
