FATAL ACCIDENT.

A fatal accident happened last evening bctween six and seven o’clock, which resulted in the death of Mr Peter Kerr. Three boys returning to town from the sandhills, met a riderless horse opposite the residence of Mr Palairet, and about three hundred yards further on they found the body of the deceased lying on the road. They immediately gave information, and the body was shortly afterwards conveyed to Mr Kerr’s residence. In the meantime Dr Symes had been sent for, and on arrival he found that deceased had fallen on his head, and must have died instantaneously. Mr Kerr was an old resident in Canterbury, and his death will be heard of with regret by a large circle of friends and acquaintances all over the province.
