We take the following account of the various events which came off yesterday after we went to press from this day’s Fress : — Easter Handicap, of 100 sovs, for three-year-olds and upwards; second horse to save his stake. 1 mile. Betting—6 to 5 agst Bribery, 2 to 1 Danebury, 3 to 1 Punga, 5 to 1 Guy, 7 to 1 Cloth of Gold and Lara. Mangle broke away several times, thus causing considerable delay at the post, and at last they got away to a moderate start, of which Danebury and Bribery had decidedly the best. When they had settled to their work, Bribery and Danebury were making play in front, with Punga and Fallacy in close attendance. To these succeeded Isaac Walton, Lara, and Cloth of Gold in the order named, Guy Fawkes and Ellin King a length behind, Tattler and Phantom bringing up the rear. After passing (fie turn Danebury fell back beaten, the running being taken up by Bribery, followed by Punga and the Cloth, ‘Fallacy, with Guy Fawkes, who had materially improved his position, next, and the rest of the field already out of the hunt. Half way up the straight Punga seemed to die away, but coming again, answered Rowland’s call most gamely, and eventually won after a close race by half a length, Bribery second, and Cloth of Gold a moderate third. Eclat made the running for the first quarter of a mile, waited on by Titania, Dead Heat and Elfin King next, Laddie and Jasper a length behind, and Maritana, who got away badly, last. At the half-wile post Xitanig
took up the running, with Jasper second, Maritana and Elfin King, who had improved their position, next, with Dead Heat close up, Laddie and Eclat, who were outpaced, falling to the rear. From this nearly up to the rails the pace was very strong, and the light weight favoring Maritana, she came away and won by a length, Elfin King beating his stable companion Titania half a length lor second place.
