ELLESMERE AUTUMN MEETING. [from the tress.] Stewards —Messrs W. Bishop, Wliitmore, McKellar, Kellahan, R. Mcllraith, Cradock. Judge—W. Bishop. Starter—J. McKellar. Clerk of the Scales—T. Richardson. Handicappers —W. Bishop, R. Wliitmore, and J. Bradshaw. Secretary—R. Winthrop. The Ellcsmere races came off yesterday, but the stewards cannot be congratulated on a success. The weather was bad, the attendance indifferent, and the racing less than moderate. Mr "Winthrop, the lion, sec, did his best in the face of many difficulties to make things go well, but we may suggest to this courteous oilicial that race-cards next year woidd be an improvement. The sport — and we are almost tempted to query the word —commenced with a walk-over by the aged Lunatie for the Hurdles. The Maiden Plate produced a field of four, two were two-year-olds, and one of these—King Philip—was rather a nice looking colt. The race was won easily by Rambler, but a protest entered against him' was allowed, and Sultana, the mare who ran second, takes the stakes. The Cup was another walk-over for Grey Momus. It appeaa-s that Mr J. Luim [forgot to accept for both handicaps, and the late disqualification of Eosy Smart reduced the field jto Mr Cradock's representative. Two only came to the post for the Trotting race, which event produced a good deal of local interest, as the two animals had twice met before over the same distance, and each had won once. Yesterday, however, Judy won easily the whole way. The Ladies' Purse was a gilt to Grey Momus. The Hack race produced a field of ten, and, after Ihe best contest of the day, was won by Mr Mellraifh's Miss Styles, Mr Bailey's Nell a good second.
