Drunk and Disorderly. • A case against Margaret Bo wen, charged with being drunk and using obscene language, was allowed to stand over for the purpose of giving her the opportunity she asked for of rejoin l ' ng a Good Templar lodge House Breaking.—Samuel Dunn alias Robert Knight, a young lad, was brought up charged with this offence. Inspector Feast told his Worship that a number of houses had been lately broken into at Lincoln, Oxford, the Oust, and Kaiapoi. Accused had been seen in each of these places, and lately had spent a largo sum of money in purchasing a gun, revolver, and clothes, &c. From information he was in poss saionjof, he believed he would be able to prove that accused had committed the whole of the offences. He (accused) had been four months away from his father, who resided at Kaiapoi. He (the inspector) would ask for a remand for seven days. Remanded until 29th instant LYTTELTON. Thursday, March 22. (Before J. T. Rouse, and H. Allwright, Eeqs, J.P'a) Civil Cases —Educational rate collector Lyttelton district v Berry ; claim £2 ; judgment by cofession j costs 6s. Same vG. Scott; claim, £1 j judgment for plaintiff; costs 6's. D'Authreau v Gordon ; claim, 30s ; judgment by default; costs 9s. McNamara v Bailey ; claim, .£2; Mr H. N. Nalder for defendant. This was a claim for a bet at euchre, in which it appeared that claimant and another man, named G add engaged, the stakes being handed to Mr Bailey. It appeared from the statement of two of plaintiff's own witnesses that Mr Bailey was handed the money through a pigyon-hole, and asked to hold it for a minute or two, and knew nothing whatever of the game taking place. A few seconds after the money was returned to Gadd Bailey was never in the same room. Verdict for defendant with costs 23*; solicitor's fee, 21s; witness' expenses, 275. Fabricius v M'Donald, master of the ketch Jannett, claim £27 16s 2d for wages due, £ls 16's paid into Court. Mr H. IV. Nalder for plaintiff, and Mr ihomas for defendant. Judgment for plaintiff, for ,£25 15s lOd; Court costs, £1 18s; solicitor's fee, £3 3s.
