The weather was glorious,- and the meeting a success in every respect. The races were hotly contested, and the horses ran on their merits. Mr F, White’s Atlas, Bst 21b (carried Bst 7£lb) ... (Wiseman) 1 Mr H. Goodman’s Glengarry, Sat 6lb (Allen) 2 Mr McKenna’s Spinaway, 7st 101 b (Clare) 3 Bob Roy and Nelly King also ran. At the fall of the flag Atlas was left in the rear, but soon overhauled the leaders. Spinaway and Nelly King bolted at the first turn, but Spinaway was brought back, and ran a good race throughout. At the first mile all the horses were packed together, and Atlas going well within himself, gradually drew away, and won cleverly by three quarters of a length. Time, 2min 54secs. A protest was entered by the owner of Glengarry against Atlas for carrying overweight, and will be considered at the evening meet ing of the stewards. District Handicap. The attendance improved during the afternoon, and the meeting was a success in eveiy respect. The races were cl scly contested and the horses run on their merits. Lawrence, March 9. The protest against Atlas, for carrying 6Albs instead of 51bs, as declared in the .1 ockey Club Handicap, was not sustained. The stakes were awarded to Atlas. The owner of Glengarry says he will sue the club, and has now entered a protest against Atlas for the Lawrence Handicap to be run to-day, because the secretary omitted Atlas from the nomination list posted at the office.
