MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, March 6. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M., and G. L. Lee, Esq, J.P.) Drunk and Disorderly.—Mary Maule, an old offender, and against whom there was a long list of convictions, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labor. Jacob Cox, for being drunk while in charge of a horse and cart, also charged with breaking some cell furniture at the depot, and who had been several times before the Court, was sentenced to thtee months' imprisonment with hard labor. Mary Kennedy, charged with drunkenness, was fined 20s and cautioned. James McConnochie was fined 20s. Lunacy from Drink.—Elizabeth Price, who, it was shown, had been drinking heavily lately, but who had recovered from its effects since her arrest, was discharged, and recommended to abstain from drink in the future. Larceny as a Bailee.— Johanuah Vanstein was charged, on warrant, with larceny as bailee of a cheque. The offence had been committed at Oxford, and, on the application of the police, a remand was granted to that place. Larceny.—The remanded case of stealing rabbits, against the boys Arthur Newman and Charles Newman, was called on. The boys did not appear, and his Worship further remanded the case until Wednes day.
