CITY IMPROVEMENTS.

To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, —That part of Colombo street between the Bank of New Zealand and Morton’s block looks much wider and better now that those obstructive verandahs have been cleared away. It would be a good thing if the City Council would refuse to allow verandahs to be erected for the future in narrow roadways, or near the junction of streets : they not only obstruct pedestrians in the most frequented parts, but are, to some extent, the cause of many vehicles coming into collision, through obstructing the view when turning the corners. Yours, &c., OBSERVER.
