MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, February 21. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M.) Breach of Railway Regulations. Thomas Johnson was charged with getting in through a window of a carriage on the Addington line while the train was in motion; The train was leaving the Addington station, when accused committed the offence, and afterwards changed his hat and coat with a mate. Fined 20s and costs. Drunk and Disorderly. Two inebriates charged with this offence, and who appeared for the first time, were each fined 10s. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, February 21. [Before W. Donald, Esq,, R.M.] Drunk on the Railway. William Galvin, arrested by Constable Johnstone, charged with this offence, was fined 10s, or, in default, forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Vagrancy.— James Ross was brought up, charged with having no visible means of support. Constable Mclntosh, who arrested the accused, stated that the place inhabited by him was in a very dclapidated state, and he was quite unable to provide for his own support. Mr Loader, who resided near accused, stated that he had known accused for many years, and lately he had been living in an old house, sleeping on the bare boards, endangering his own life and that of others also. The Bench remanded accused for one week.
Lunacy. —William Bolger was brought up charged with this offence, and sent to the Sunnyside Asylum.
