DUNEDIN CUP.
[BY telegraph.]
(From a correspondent of the Press .) The betting market is quiet, and it is difficult to give reliable list quotations, the prices varying so much, Maroro is never mentioned now, and a price cannot be given about him. Guy Fawkes, who was second in favor, has receded to 100 to 3 since incurring his heavy penalties. Templeton’s indisposition has caused his retrogression to 10 to 1 offered. As a consequence Puogawerewere is shortening in price, and the Otago horses getting firmer. For the Derby there is absolutely no straight out betting, but many candidates are taken in doubles with the Gup, at prices ranging from 100 to 4to 100 to I. The following is as near a list of the quotations for the Cup as can be gathered : 9 to 1 agst Pungawerewere (tk) 9 to 1 agst King Philip (off) 10 to 1 agst Fishhook (tk) 10 to 1' agst Bight Bower (tk) 10 to I agst Templeton (oil) 11 to 1 agst Dead Heat (tk) 100 to 8 agst Cloth of Gold (off) 100 to 8 agst Biflu King (tk) 100 to 8 agst Fallacy (off) 100 to 8 agst Middleton (tk) 100 to 8 agst Hippecampus (off) 100 to 6 agst Danebury (off) 100 to 6 agst Amanda (off) 100 to 5 agst Stormbird (off) 100 to 5 agst Rob Boy (off) 100 to 3 agst Guy Fawkes (tk) WAIRARAPA RACES.
