CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, February 12. (Before Drs Back and Deamer, J.P’s.) Drunk and Disorderly.— George Craw, arrested for being drunk, was fined 10s. An inebriate, wbo appeared for the first time, was discharged. C. E. Trounce was fined 40s ; A. McMahon was fined 20s. Illegally on Premises. Mary Ann Cook, arrested for being illegally on the premises at Tattersall’s at an early hour of the morning, was sentenced to forty-eight hours’ imprisonment with hard labor. Protection Order. —Jane Lane applied for a protection order for her earnings against her husband, Frederick Lane. The complainant stated that since Christmas her husband had been constantly drinking, and had not given her anything to support herself and family. He was also in the habit of abusing her. When in work he could earn dE3 10s weekly. Ordered to pay £2 per week.

Drunk in a Railway Carriage.— William Sinclair, charged on summons under the Public Works Act with annoying, while in a state of intoxication, the signal-man at the tunnel on the Lyttelton and Christchurch line of railway, thereby obstructing him in the execution of his duty, was fined 20s. John Rennie, summoned for jumping on a train at the Addington station, on the 10th of June, going to the Malvern with empty trucks, was fined £5. Mary Woods, a young girl, was charged with using a second-class ticket on the Southbridge line, -and which bore a date two days previous. When spoken to by the guard, the girl stated that she had obtained the ■ticket from her father, who had come down the line with it. Inspector Feast told the Bench that he had been instructed to press for a penalty, as the Government desired to put a stop to this practice of transfering tickets, which was found to have obtained on the various lines for some time past. Fined 20s. Cattle Trespass. —David Gellatly, summoned for allowing six head of cattle to •wander in the Templeton district, was fined ss.
