THE HOSPITAL DRAINAGE.

To the Editor of the Globe.

Sir, — I can only spare a second to answer’ the letter of “Choukuzee Secuudus.” I’ll tell you why later on. About airing my knowledge, and not ventilating the “atoms” before the bath was erected, 1 can only say that if it had not been built up to the present day, I and others would most likely have known nothing about any drainage from the hospital, and it was only after the erection of the bath that rumors were started which proved to be true on investigation. About the “ bottling” up business, I will simply say that the expense already incurred, is poor iu comparison to what the result might be to any ratepayers who, blessed with a scratch or two on their body, or perhaps a weak or sore eye, were indulging in the luxury of a dip, say, shortly after a post mortem had taken place higher up. I hope to see a lot of correspondence on this subject calling me “another;” then MiEditor, when you are about getting tired of the affair, I will, with your permission, sit down, calmly and wind it all up. Now, however, my every spare moment is engaged, as I am at present painting a portrait of a female relation, with a strong family likeness, to send to that “handsome young man, twenty years of age, of good expectations,” who has been lately advertising in your journal for “ a prettyand accomplished sharer of his heart and home.” I have a hope that, if I could secure him for a cousin-in-law, we might make a trifle by exhibiting together, as extreme specimens of Nature’s freaks. Yours, &c,, CuOUKia/JtE, Jun.
