CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, January 2. (Before G-. L. Lee, Esq, and John Anderson, Esq, J.P.'s) Drunkenness.—A first offender was dismissed with a caution; John Wright, Wm Calder, James King, and Andrew Jansen, were each fined 5s ; Robert Henry, for being drunk and disorderly and assaulting the police in the execution of their duty, was fined 20s, or in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. LYTTELTON. Monday, January 1. (Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.) Drunkenness.—Henry Pietersen, arrested by Ctnslable Bullen on a charge of this nature, was dismissed with a caution. Absent Without Leave.—John Green and H. Davis, seamen belonging to the ship Merope, were charged by Captain Sutherland with this offence, and ordered on board. Tuesday, January 2. (Before W. Donald, Esq, R.M.) Fighting in the Street. William Henderson and David Mallerene, arrested by Constable Hilliard charged with the above, were dismissed with a caution.J John Sinclair, charged with dmnkenness and fighting in the streets, and John Goornan, charged with drunkenness on the railway, were also dismissed with a caution. Assault.—A. Lowe was charged with committing the above offence upon Mrs Haslock and fined 40s, or in default one month. Transfer of License.—-Upon the application of Mr A. Thompson, a temporary transfer of the license of the Ocean View Hotel from Thomas Blyth to Samuel Neale was granted.
