Maiden Plate, of 80 sovb, with a sweepstakes of 4 hots each ; amount accruing from sweepstakes to go to second horse. Entrance, 4 sovs each. Winner of the Derby to carry 71bs penalty. Weight for age. Distance, 1£ miles, For all horses that hare never won an advertised prize (two-year-old prizes excepted) exceeding 25 sovs at the time of entry. Mr J. Hunt's b g Skylark, aged, 9st 51b... 1 Mr A. Collin's b g Derby, 5 yrs, 9st 4ib... 2 Mr J. S. Buckland's b f Aconite, 3 yrs, 7st3lb 3 Skylark led to the stand, when the Fanny Fisher colt came through the horses easily, but ran inside the post and was disqualified. Skylark then forged ahead easily passing the winning post first, by a length aod a half. Detby and Aconite had a neck and neck . ace for second place. The Auckland Cup Handicap, of 200 sovs, with a sweep of 10 sovs each added ; second horse to receive 20 sovs, and third horse to save his stakes. Distance, 2 miles. E/itrance, 2 sovs, and acceptances, 8 sovs to the fund. The winner of any handicap race of the value of 200 sovs, after the declaration of the weights, to carry 71bs extra ; of the value of 100 sovs, 51bs extra ; of two or more such races, 71bs extra (extreme penalty.) Mr J. Watt's Ariel, 4 yrs, Bst 21bs ... 1 Mr Nosworthy's ch c Danebury, 3] yrs Tat 101 b 2 Mr Walters's Isaac Walton, 4 yrs, 6st 12lb 3 A quarter of a mile from home the Belle fell and broke her shoulder, rolling over aer rider, who fortunately escaped uninjured. She who afterwards shot by the order of Captain Eraser, her owner. Ariel won the race by two lengths. Publicans' Pubse of 60 sovs, with a sweepstakes of 2 fiovs each ; amount accruing from sweepstakes to go to second horse. Entrance, 3 sovs. Weight for age. Winner of Railway Plate to carry 71ba extra. Distance, 1 mile. Mr R. Ray's b f Fallacy, 3 yrs I Mr M. Gee's b m Perfume, 6yrs 2 Only the two horses started. Perfume took the. lead, but was collared by Fallacy, who won easily.
