MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, December 18. TBefore H. Belfield, Esq., J.P.] Drunk and Disorderly.—Albert Chatband, for being drunk and resisting the police, was fined 20s. Two inebriates, who appeared for the first time, were each fined 53, and a third was discharged with a caution. Charles Trounce, for being drunk and using obscene language in Colombo street, was fined 20s. William Woodruffe, for drunkenness, assaulting the police, and using obscene language, was fined 20s. Jas. Faulkner, arrested for being drunk and resisting the police, was fined 10s. T. F. Halliwell, arrested for drunkenness, and who was still suffering from its effects, was remanded to Lyttelton for eight days for medical treatment. Disobeying an Order. —An adjourned case against Edward Spray, for disobeying an order of the Resident Magistrate Court, Dunedin, to contribute towards the support of his wife and family, was further adjourned until the 27th inst. Vagrancy.—John Cunningham, arrested for drunkenness at Lincoln, and also with begging money at a butcher's shop there, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labor.
