MAGISTRATES COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, December 6. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly, Patrick Garvin, arrested for being drunk and committing an act of exposure, was fined 10s ; Henry Blythe, for drunkenness, was fined 20s. Thomas W. Robson was charged with being drunk and using abusive language to his wife. The parties are separated, and it was stated that accused takes every opportunity of annoying her. Through his conduct she had been made seriously ill on several occasions. Fined 60s, and cautioned, Donald Munroe, for being drunk, was fined ss. Embezzlement. John Brooks was charged on warrant with embezzling moneys belonging to his employer, William Vincy. Mr O’Neill appeared for the defence. On the application of the police, a remand was granted until Saturday, to enable the evidence to be completed. In reply to Mr O’Neill, his Worship said he would grant bail in two sureties of £SO each. Disobeying an Order. —The adjourned case against Thomas Hickling for failing to comply with an order of the Court to contribute towards the support of his wife was called on. This case had been adjourned at the request of the defendant, as he said he could produce evidence which might permit of the order against him being reversed. Since the case was last before the Court he had paid the balance due to complainant into Court. Mr Thomas appeared for complainant, and said he understood Hickling had left for Melbourne by the Otago. He would ask that the order against defendant be confirmed. Order confirmed as asked. Transfer of License. —The temporary transfer of the license of the Crown Hotel to R. Belgrave was further extended, on the application of Mr Thomas.
