AMUSEMENTS.

♦ MR AND MRS J. L. HALL.

These old favorites ’here, arrived this morning by the City of New York. They appear on Monday nex.t, at the Theatre Royal.

THE LYDIA HOWARDS TROUPE. There was a crowded, house at the Music Hall last evening, when “ Trial by Jury” and “ Lucia di Lammermoor” were performed. Between the pieces Miss Jennie Nye and Mr Power danced the jockey’s hornpipe, receiving an enthusiastic encore. To night “ Ivauhoe” will be repeated, and between the first and second acts Miss Howarde will present the rider of the winner of the Metropolitan with a silver mounted whip. Tomorrow evening, being the last night of the season, a complimentary benefit will be tendered to Mr H. Shepperson, the manager, when we hope to see a crowded house, as, apart from the estimation in which the manager is held as a caterer for public amusement, the announcement of “ Nemesis” itself should fill the house.

THEATRE ROYAL. Large an t’ae new theatre is, its holding capacity was tested to the utmost last evening (Thursday), every part being crowded to excess, and many being unable to obtain admittance. The pieces were, “ She Stoops to Conquer, 51 and “ Nothing to Wear, 51 in both of which Miss Florence Colville and Mr Hoskins played well, and were ably supported by the other members of the company. Tonight “The Serious Family” and “ The Jealous Wife” will be produced.
