DIOCESAN SYNOD.

* Tuesday, October 24. The annual session of the Diocesan Synod was opened at 1 p.m, at the College Library. The proceedings were opened by prayer by the most Rev the Primate, The roll of the Synod was then called by the Rev E. A. Lingard, when the following answered to their names : Bishop : The Most Rev the Primate. The Very Rev the Dean of Christchurch ; Archdeacons Harper, Willock, Dudley. Clergy ; Rev,Canon Ootterill; Revs Watson, Lingard, Opie, Gould, Jackson, Hamilron, Hare, Cocks, Brittan, Carlyon, Coates, East, Paige, Preston, Willmer, Plavell, Otway, Scott, Stack, Cholmondeley, Lloyd, Glasson, W. Harper. Laity: Messrs Hassall, Acland, Malet, Bell, Hanmer, Walker, Packer, Greeson, G. L . Lee, Stedman, Cowlishaw, L. Harper, Webb, Mclntyre, Lane, Bamford, Parsons, Tipping, Hobden, C, R. Blakiston, Ainger, and H. J. Tancred ; Sir Thomas Tancred, and Sir Cracroft Wilson. The President then declared the Bynod open for the despatch of business, THE PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS, The President then proceeded to deliver the annual opening address, touching upon the various subjects of interest in the diocese, aad the matters of business to be brought before the Synod.
