CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, October 21. {Before G. L. Hellish, Esq, R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly. Three inebriates, who appeared for the first time, were each fined 5s ; J ohn Taylor, was fined 10s ; Edward Stewart, 20s ; and Elizabeth Bowen, 10s. Charles Wilson, charged with being drunk and resisting the police, was fined 20s. James Corneily, for being drunk and using obscene language, was fined 10s. Stealing from a Shop. —William Mohr, who had been arrested on the charge of stealing some articles from the shop of Sami. Stewart, was remanded until the 23rd inst, on the application of the police. Violent Assault. —Sami. Dobbinson was charged with assaulting A. Ashley the previous day. The prosecutor stated that he went to accused’s house, in Kilmore street, the previous day, at his invitation, and after upbraiding him for the manner he was treating his wife, accused struck him violently in the face, knocking him insensible, A little girl called stated that she saw the accused throw Ashley out of the house the previous day, strike him with a cup, and knock him down. When he was down he (accused) kicked him with his foot in the face. Fined 60s, in default one week’s imprisonment. Protection Order. —Francis Anne Long applied for an order for the protection of her property and earnings. Mrs Long stated that she had been compelled to leave her husband seven years ago, since then he had not contributed anything towards th.o support of herself and children. His Worship granted, the order, also giving her the custody of three children.
