LYDIA. HOWARDE BURLESQUE
TROUPE.
There was another capital attendance at the Music Hall last night, when “ GirofleGirofla” was presented for a second time. The burlesque went much better than' on its first production, notably in the third act, and the music rendered more effectually, especially in the concerted pieces, which were given with greater vigor and precision. Miss HowaVde, was very successful in the duets with Mr Towle, whilst her singing of "See how it sparkles,” was given in such a manner as to ensure a hearty greeting from the audience. Misses Nye and Navaro were also in good voice, and enacted their parts .with great taste and care ; an improvement was also perceptible in the acting of Miss Lucy -Ashton as Bolero’s wife. As Mourzouk, Mr Cary went thoroughly into the spirit of the character and made it a great hit, whilst the Bolero of Mr Power was inimitable. The other parts were also better played than on the first night, and it jnay be said that the piece is now in fair playing order, and should monopolise the boards for a long time. Monday night is set apait as a benefit to Herr Schott, when a spec ai programme will be prepared, Among other novelties " Mynheer ” will introduce one of his celebrated hautboy solos,*'" h ‘ '■> ..
