SHIPWRECKED MARINERS.
Captain Bayldon, of the schooner Sissy, reports that whilst passing Portland Island, he observed fires (which were evidently signals) from the shore. Owing to the heavy sea and high wind, he was unable to communicate with those on the island; but on arrival here, at once telegraphed to Napier, and no doubt measures will be at once taken to ascertain who made the signals. '
