MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, Sept. 18. Drunk and Disorderly. —Three inebriates, who appeared for the first time, and had been admitted to bail, were each fined 10s. Wm. Tindall, who had been arrested for drunkenness, and afterwards admitted to bail, appeared in Court intoxicated, and was committed for twenty-four hours for ontempt of Court. An cinebriate, who appeared for the first time, and had been locked up since Saturday, was fined ss. Illegally on Premises. —Edward Buck, charged with being found illegally on the premises of Mr H. D. Manning, was discharged, as the prosecutor did not wish to press the charge. Larceny. —Charles Thompson, who appeared to answer to his bail on the charge of stealing some lead, nails, cramp, &c, from the Catholic chapel, the property of Buckley and Marshall, was, on the application of Mr O’Neill, remanded until Wednesday, bail being allowed in one surety of £2O, and himself in a similar amount.
LYTTELTON. Monday, September 18. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —John Barker, arrested by constable Bullen for this offence, was ordered to pay 2s 6d cart-hire. Drunk and Disorderly.— Thomas Long, arrested by Sergeant Smith, and charged with creating a disturbance on board the ship Border Chief, was fined 10s, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment.
