AMUSEMENTS.

THE LYDIA HOWARDE TROUPE. The Lydia Howards Troupe produced the “Trial by Jury” and the burlesque of “ Lucia di Lammermoor ” last evening, and both pieces went capitally. In consequence of Miss Ashton’s indisposition, the part of Inez was enacted by Mr Walter Hill, and considering the short notice which had been given him, his rendering of the character was exceedingly good. To-night the company perform at Lyttelton, returning to the Music Hall to-morrow evening, when the performances will be for the benefit of Mr E. Briggs, the scenic artist—the ever-popular “Chilperic” and a miscellaneous concert being the attraction for the occasion. DE MURSKA CONCERTS. The first of the concerts given by this talented lady will take place this evening, at the Music Hall, and as a large number of seats have already been disposed of, there will no doubt be a crowded house. During the evening Madame de Murska will introduce the celebrated “Mad Scene” from “ Lucia ” (in costume, with stage affects, &c), and the Shadow song and dance, from “ Dinorah,” In conjunction with Maestro Strauss Ilia, who will play the violin obligato Madame De Murska will also sing “The Hungarian Pastoral Song,” composed expressly for her by Doppler. Maestro Strauss Ilia will also perform piano and violin solos, the latter being quite new to Christchurch audiences, whilst Signori Susini and Rosnati will contribute several gems from “Lucretia,” “Trovatore,” “Elisird’Amore,” and other well known operas. With such a programme, and the musical reputation of the artistes engaged, we predict crowded houses during Madame’s stay in Christchurch. Tickets for all parts can be procured at Bonnington’s Music Depot, for any evening during the season, so as to avoid inconvenience on the nights of performance. The Second Operatic Concert is announced for Monday, and the third and last for Tuesday.
