AMUSEMENTS.

THE LYDIA HOWARDE TROUPE. There was another large audience at the Music Hall on Saturday night, when " The Trial by Jury" and "Nemesis" was again most successfully performed. To-night the burlesque of " Masaniello" will be produced for the first time. Some very excellent scenery and mechanical effects are to be introduced to make the play a success, whilst in matters musical we are promised several new and choice selections by both singers and orchestra. The piece should therefore prove a success. On Wednesday night Mr Harry Power, whose low comedy characters are irresistably funny, and who has gained great favor with Christchurch people, will take a benefit, when we have no doubt a bumper house will be the result. We hear a very attractive programme is in course of preparation for the occasion.
