AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of the committee of the Association was held at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday. Present —Messrs Norman, Fantham, A. Duncan, Holley, Alport, Mann, Sutherland, O. P. Barker, Henderson, Wilkin, Boag, Mcßeth, Bruce, Money, Garforth, John Deans, Walls, and J. T. Ford. Mr Wilkin was yoted to the chair. The report of the sub-committee as to judges for sheep for the next show was brought up and approved, with some slight alterations. The reports of the committee on the judges for fat cattle and other classes of the show were also agreed to. The meeting then proceeded to nominate judges for local manufactures and poultry, Messrs Ford, Sutherland, Wilkin, Bruce, and Duncan were appointed as a sub-com-mittee to fix rate of expenses allowed to outside judges. The entire horse parade was fixed to take place on Saturday, the 30th of September inst. The following gentlemen were elected as a committee of management, viz—Messrs R. Wilkin, Henderson, Norman, Page, Ferguson, Walls, Bruce, Holley, Gray, J. T. Ford, Boag, and A, W. Money. The plan for the arrangement of the yards on the day of the show was laid on the table and referred to the ground committee for their approval. . Mr Duncan having taken the chair, Mr Wilkin then moved the following resolutions standing in bis name ; —“ !•_ That it is desirable to establish in connection with the association a periodical to be called ‘ The New Zealand Country Journal.’ ” “2. That at first the journal should be issued quarterly, the first number appearing in the ttrst week of January, 1877.” “ That a sub? committee, consisting of the President and Messrs Norman, Henderson, Craig, Duncan, Ford, and Wilkin be appointed to edit the journal, and arrange for its publication, and that a sum of money not exceeding £l2 10s for each number be voted for clerical labor in connection with the paper,"

Mr Noman seconded the resolutions, which were agreed to. The chairman handed over the sum of £ls 3s, collected by the ladies towards the cost of a flag for the association. Mr Barker moved—" That a vote of thanks be passed to the ladies for their kind endeavors in the matter of contributions towards the flag, and that the surplus be kept in hand towards the repairs, &c, if necessary.” Mr Money seconded the motion, which was agreed to, Several accounts were passed for payment, Mr Fantham moved the following resolution, viz ;— '< That all protests must be in writing, and left with the committee by 3 p.m. on the day of the show. In classes where age and unsoundness is the cause of protest, and proof cannot be given, to be decided by a duly qualified veterinary surgeon, and his decision to be binding. The party entering a protest to deposit one guinea, to be returned if protest be sustained, and any other protest to be decided as the committee think practicable. ” Mr H. B. Alport seconded the motion pro forma. Mr Henderson moved Fantham, Bruce, Mann, Garforth, Holley, Walls, Ford, Wilkin, Alport, and the mover be appointed a sub-committee to bring up a report as to the question of protests at next meeting. Mr Noman seconded the amendment, which was agreed to. A letter was received from Mr Sandstein, companied by a 100 guinea cup, and asking whether the Association would be willing to purchase it. The secretary was instructed to reply that at present the Association did not see their way clear to purchase the cup at present. After some further routine business, the committee adjourned,
