GENERAL ASSEMBLY
( Per Press Agency HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thursday, August 31. On the House meeting, a debate arose on the introduction of some Harbor Bills by Sir J. Vogel, objection being taken on the ground that the proceeding was irregular. Sir J. Vogel explained that until the announcement of the formation of a new Ministry, he necessarily occupied the position of Premier. The discussion was kept up till nearly eight o’clock, without any announcement of any Ministerial changes having been made. After the discussion last evening arising out of the fact that the Ministerial announcement had not been made by Major Atkinson as soon as the House met, he expressed his regret he was unable to make to the House that definite statement he thought he should have been able to make. He said, however, he had obtained the consent of a number of gentlemen ready to form a Government. Their names were Mr Whitaker, Sir Donald McLean, Dr Pollen, Mr Richardson, Mr Bowen, Mr Ormond, Hon J. Hall, Mr G. McLean. The House then adjourned till Monday.
