MAGISTRATES' COURTS.

CHRISTOHUBCH. Tuesday, August 29. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., 8.M.)

Indecent Exposure.—Angus Sutherland was charged with having indecently exposed himself in a railway carriage on the Christchurch and Southbridge line, and also with using obscene language. The offences were proved, and accused was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. Drunk and Disorderly.—Harriett Durham and Mary Bowen charged with drunken. ness were each fined 10s. Wife Desertion.—John Clarkson was charged on warrant with having deserted his wife. Mrs Clarkson stated that her husband left her about three months since, and had not since contributed anything towards the support of herself and son. The prosecutrix, by her expressions in the box, was shown to possess anything but a good temper, and it was evident there had been faidts on both sides. As she said she did not want any assistance for herself, his Worship advised accused to, take the boy to where he was working, ancl see that he attended school, The ease would be adjourned for a week.

LYTTELTON. Tuesday, August 29. fßefore W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness.—John Murphy, arrested by Constable Butler, was fined 10s for this offence; in default forty-eight hours. Breach oe Police Ordinance.—William Cowlin was charged with having left the carcase of a calf in a stream of water at Governor's Bay. The case was adjourned till 6th September. . Cattle Trespass.—George Wallis, for having three horses at large on Governors Bay road, on Auguat 17th, and three on August 26th, was fined 15s, 10s for the first, and 5s for the second offence, with costs in both cases. Robert Harris, for having a horse astray, was fined ss, and 4s costs. W. Pitcaithly was fined 10s, and costs, for allowing two horses to wander at large on Norwich Quay.
