The p.s. Luna sailed for Westport yesterday morning, with a number of hopper waggons and other material for the Buller Eailway. The brig Sea Spray hauled out in the stream yesterday, ready to make a start the first fair wind. The s.s. Matau left yesterday afternoon for Wellington, via Kaikoura. The " Otago Times " of the 23rd says, that a ship was sighted in the offing on the 22nd, but passed Noithward. This will most probably prove to be the Halcione, now over due from London. The SB Bawea, Captain Wheeler, left Port Chalmers at 2 p.m Wednesday, and arrived at Akaroa at 1 a.m yesterday morning; lelt again at 8.45 a.m, and reached here at l pm. She brought thirty tons cargo tor this port, loaded twenty tons for North, and sailed at 8 p.m last night. The R.M.S.S Zealand** arrived yesterday at. 9 S.m ; left Port Chalmers-it 5 p.m Wednesday, and had fine weather to an ival; took on board outward Frisco mail, and sailed for San Francisco via North at 5.30 p m last night. A number of visitors went to see the mail Rteamer Zealandia yesterday. Messrs Agar and Roberts ran their steam launch to and fro the big boat during the day, and did quite a roaring trade. The schooners Torea and Hinemoa arrived yesterday from Kaipara. Both left that port on the 16th instant, in company with the Favourite schooner, and had light N.E winds down the coast. Came through the Straits on Saturday last with a fresh northerly breeze, which brought the resselstothe Kaikouras, where a heavy gale was experienced, and had to lay-to for twenty-four hours. On Monday the weather moderated; thence had light variable winds to arrival at 1.30 pm yesterday. Both vessels were in company during the whole trip. The barque Glencoe, an old trader between Hobart Town and New Zealand, has been reported in some of the New Zealand papers as probably missing. She is reported as having left Hobart Town on July 31st, for Dunedin, with a cargo of Tasmanian produce, but we feel sure these fears •re without foundation, as the Glencoe was reported as being off Lyttelton Heads on the 16th, then being sixteen days out. In all probability we shall hear of her arrival at her destination in safety, in a day or so.
