The grain market has undergone little or no change during the week, transactions, export or otherwise, being very limited. For wheat there is a fair demand, and holders are firm in their views, but no sales of any note have come under oui'iobscrvation. For prime milling quality 4s 3d is offered. Oats are without improvement, and dull at Is 8d to Is 9d, the little excitement caused by a temporary demaud from Australia having now quite subsided. Millers’ quotations for flour are firm at £ll f.o.b. in >acks, and exports brisk. Injpotatoes little has been done, buyers operating only from hand to mouth; a few sales are reported at 27s 6d lor immediate shipment, but at this price traders are not inclined to purchase any large quantity in the face of a very quiet outside market Dairy produce Is without alteration, but somewhat duller of sale, butter at lid, cheese Bd. A good export trade continues to be maintained in hams and bacon, curers’ quotations remaining at 9d bare, and 9Jd in cloth. We have very little business to report in the Import market during the past week. A few transactions have taken place in new teas, at prices withheld; but the parcels quitted have been v«ry very small. Last season's growth is being pushed Off against the new at low rates. Sugars arc moved off in trade lots at full prices. In bottled ales and stouts wo have to rep i t a very irregular mavketfor instance, Guinness’ stout Inve been sold at ids 6d, a price which must leave a heavy loss. Tennant’s ale and Blood’s stout have found purchasers at ils to lls 3d. Bulk ales are quitted in small parcels at £9 15s per hogshead. Tobaccoes have been oflered at very low rates, but with very small result. Cement—The market is still overstocked ; 17s 6d to 17s9d is full price for first brands. Galvanised IronSales have been effected at £3O per ton for sft to 9ft lengths. A few bales of Calcutta sacks have been sold at 10s. In spirits we have not much to report beyond trade sales. Hennessy’s case brandy is in good demand at 3ls 6d; bulk, 7» 6d.
