CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, August 11. [Before Q, L. Lee, Esq,’J.P.] Drunk and Disorderly. John Lane, for tjiis offence, was fined 40s, and W. Cody--203. John Peacar, charged with being drunk and breaking a pane of glass in a window of the Empire Hotel, was fined 10s, and Jss value of the glass. Elizabeth Price, who, after being arrested for drunkenness, had resisted the constable and broken his belt, was fined 40s and damage done. LYTTELTON. Friday, August 11. (Before W Donald, Esq, R.M.) Drunkenness andJAssaulting Police.— Samuel Hall, arrested by Constable Bullen, was charged with these offences. The Bench fined accused, who had been very violent, 10s for drunkenness, 20s for the assault, and 45s for the damage done to the constable’s uniform. Assault and Refusal op Duty.— Alexander Sam was charged by Captain Johnson of the brigantine Esther with this offence. It appeared that accused who is a colored man and cook on board the Esther would not obey his commands and assaulted him whist at s a Th< {charge was dismissed, great provocation having been given. Assault Charles Miller accused of having assaulted his wife, was dismissed with a caution. Illegally on Premises —John Brown and John Jansen on remand from Thursday, were sentenced to twenty*four hours' im* ptisonment with hard labor.
