LINCOLN FARMERS’ CLUB AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of members of this association was held at their rooms, Lincoln, on Tuesday, August Bth, There was a large attendance of members. The president, Mr A, 0. Knight, occupied the chair. . ~ A discussion took place previous to the report and balance-sheet being read, to have the opinions of members on the desirability of holding the show. It was decided, with some slight opposition, to hold the show. . , , The hon secretary read the report a? toilowa; —“ I have much pleasure in laying before you the fourth annual balance-sheet of your association, together with a schedule of prize takers and members. The balancesheet, as will be seen, shows a deficit of *27 13s lOd, against which the association have property which has cost them, including material, labor, carriage, &c, £lO6 2s 7d, of which, the net cost of the mstGricil &t liincoin station was £B3 14s 7d, The deficiency is to be accounted for through the falling off of the receipts at the gates, the committee having expected that on account of the railway being opened, this item would have largely increased over the year, whereas the increase was only a few shillings. “ The association’s prizes amounted to 113, being 61 first prizes, 47 second, and 5 third. The average value of each prize was £1 10s. In addition to these, six private prizes were given, to the value of £l6 19s. The entrance money shows an increase over the previous year of £8 15s. The following is a comparative statement of the entries for the past three years 1873. 1871. 1875, Sheep.. ..f 69 ... 68 ... 59 Cattle ... 55 ... 57 ... 52 Horses ... 47 ... 59 ... 79 Pigs 8 ... 9 ... 17 Implements... 11 ... 10 ... 8 Dairy produce 6 ... 11 ... 22 Total ... 196 214 237 “ This shows an increase on the total of previous years of 23 entries, of which 20 are in the horse classes, 11 in the dairy produce, and 8 in the pig class. « By the members’ list it will be seen that the total number of members of the association are 91, being 10 in excess of the previous year. “ The new cattle yards, for which authority was given at the last annual meeting, have been erected at a cost of £lO6 2s 7d, and were carried out by Mr Hugh Byrne, of Prebbleton. The timber was principally supplied by Mr E, O. Latter, of Barry Bay ; the balance, consisting of posts, was purchased from the Christchurch Association. They supplied accommodation for sixty entries. “ Through the yards taking up a considerable portion of the spare ground, and the large increase in the number of entries of horses, it was found necessary to make arrangements for increased accommodation ; and Mr F. C. Pyne, who was applied to, kindly placed a part of his paddock at the disposal of the committee. As the difficulty is likely to arise again this year, it would be wise that the matter should receive the consideration of this meeting. The extra hurdles required for the sheep pens were provided by the Rev H. B. Cocks. The question of applying for the Government grant should also have the consideration of this meeting.” The report was received and adopted. The balance sheet showed the receipts to have been £322 3s 7d, and expenditure £349 17s sd, leaviug a debit balance of £27 13s lOd due to the treasurer. The balance sheet was received and adopted.
