PRESENTATION TO CAPTAIN LLOYD.

The following Is a copy of an address presented yesterday to Captain Lloyd, late of the s.s Taranaki, together with a handsome gold albert guard, with locket attached, bearing the following inscription-" Presented to Captain Lloyd, by the officers and crew of the s.s Taranaki. Dunedm, July 261 h, 1876 *' The testimonial was subscribed tor entirely bv the officers and crew. Mr Dougherty, the purser, read the address, aud Mr Anderson, chief officer, on behalf of the subscribers, presented the testimonial. Captain Lloyd, although much overcome by tills spontaneous display of kiudlv feeling and goodwill, tin.aked the donors in a few well-chosen words, co-eluding by proposing "Success to the Union Company," coupled with the health of Mr James Mills, the managing director, to which Mr Monkman suitably replied. Captain Lloyd having busine.S engagements, the meeting, after drinking " Health and Prosperity to Captain Lloyd, and Success to the T>ion Company," broke up. " Dimedin, July 26th, 18<6. "To Captain C. Lloyd. . " Dear Sir—We, the undersigned, oilicers and crew cannot allow Ihe occasion of your retiring from the command of the s.s. Taranaki, to pass without tendering you our thanks for the umtorm kindness and courtesy which has invariably marked your intercourse with us during the eighteen mouths we have had the privilege of serving under you; and we respectfully beg your acceptance ot the accompanying token as a slight memento of the universal esteem we entertain for you. "While ever'seeking the interests of the Company you served, and forwarding them in every way, we cordially bear testimony that you have managed, with a tact seldom found afloat, to maintain at all times strict discipline, with a mildness of rule that has rendered the vessel like a home, and elicited this spontaneous teeling of regret on our part at your leaving us. , _..«, "We earnestly wish you God-speed, and in whatever you may undertake, our prayers and wishes for your welfare will follow you wherever fortune may lead you.
