AMUSEMENTS.
THE LYDIA HOWARDE TROUPE.
There was another good house at the Music Hall last night, despite the wretched weather. ‘‘La Sylphide” was again most successfully repeated, Miss Howarde being in capital voice, singing her music admirably, whilst Miss Nye and Madame Navaro were also both in good form. The music in “Macbeth” went well, and the acting and scenery pertaining to the extravaganza were all that could be wished for. We notice a change is about to take place in the musical conductorship of the company, Mr Towle being about to join the ranks of the corps dramatique, his successor being Herr Schott, who is well known as a very able musician. This will be a great acquisition to the company in a musical point of view, Mr Towle possessing a very nice tenor voice, the want of which to strengthen the present company being very often felt. The same programme will be repeated this evening, and next week “Nemesis” will be produced.
