The Customs revenue collected on Tuesday was as follows s

Dunedin.— Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co report, for the week ending Bth July, 1876, as folj oWß: _Pat Cattle—A smaller number came to hand this week, causing prices to manifest an upward tendenc r; 108 head were yarded, of which a fair proportion were of good quality, We sold 05 head on account of the N.Z. and A.L. Company, Mr George Wallace, and Messrs Gray and Bremner, Bullocks brought from £8 15s to .£l4 12s Od, and colt’s from £s to £ll 10s, being equivalent to 35s per lOOlbs tor good quality, and 30a for medium ditto. Privately we 501d35 head at equal to 32s Gd per lOOlbs. Fat Calves—Only a few were yarded, which sold at from 25s to 57s Gd each. Fat Sheep—A fair supply came forward, 1700 of all sorts bring penned. We sold on account of the N.Z. and A.L, Co, 500 crossbreds at 14s 9d ; on account of Messrs Murray, Koberts and Co, 200 cross-bred ewes at ils, and 50 merinos at 10s; on account of Col Kitchener, 200 cross-breds at 12s, and 50 merinos at 11s 3d. We quote prime mutton at 3d per lb. Privately we sold 250 cross-breds at equal to that ligurc. Store Cattle and Sheep—We have no transactions to report. Horses—The demand tor both draught and strong cab horses has improved considerably this week. At our yards, on Saturday, we sold on account of Mr A. Murray, ills team of nine heavy draughts, at from £25 to £55 ; also a draught of light provincialbred draught colts, at from £24 to £3l. Wc quote first class draughts, £SO to £OO ; medium do, £3O to £45 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £3O ; medium do, £l4 to £2O ; light and interior, £5 to .£lO. Sheepskins—At our weekly sale, on Wednesday, we catalogued about 2400 skins, which were briskly competed for by a full attendance of buyers, and disposed of as follows : —Butchers’ green skins, merinos, at from is lid to 2s 4d ; cross breds, at from 2s 8d to3s lid; dry station skins, at from Is 4d to 4s sd, according to quality. Hides are rather less in demand, and prices are easier—say equal to about 3Jd to 4d per lb. At our weekly sale we quitted 231 at from 15s 3d to 22s 3d for light and medium weights ; heifer skins at 6s 9d, and calfskins at 2s Gd each. Grain—Wheat continues Very lirm, with a steady demand. Prime samples are worth 4s Gd to 4s 9d per bushel; medium, 4s 3d to 4s 4d ; fowls’ feed, 3s Gd to 3s 9d. Oats are comparatively neglected. Feed may be quoted at Is 8d to is 9d per bushel; milling at Is lOtl. Barley—Prime malting continues In request at about last week’s rates, but medium and inferior samples are diflicult to move. Melbourne.— The “ Argus ” of the sih instant reports : —ln the import market business lias been exceedingly quiet throughout the day, and beyond what has reached us through the auction room, little of interest has been reported otherwise. Bread-stuffs continue to maintain a very firm aspect and the sales effected, though not of any special importance, are at extreme rates. Flour is moving at £l2 10s. In one Instance, this price was realised for a line of 20 tons, and oilier parcels have also been quitted at the price. Wheat is likewise more saleable. Any parcel of prime northern put on the market can now readily make Cs Id. Sales have been made at the price, but to no great extent. In oats there is not much doing privately. About 400 bags fine oats have been taken up privately for export at 2s 9d in bond. Under the hammer 3500 bushels Tasmanian and Now Zealand were cleared off in the forenoon, when inferior and discolored brought 2s 3d; common to ordinary sold at 2s 7d to 2s Od, and prime New Zealand stout sold at 3s Id. Maize, though quiet, is still selling at 4s. Sugars are firm. Only a moderate business was done at the auction sale, but afterwards a line was taken up, which it is expected will improve the market, and probably lead to further operations. The balance of the Irazu’s cargo, amounting to 3800 bags Mauritius, was submitted to competition, but from the box only 10:*5 bags were quitted at 34s Gd for white crystals, 32s to 32s Gd for grey crystals, 3ls to 3ls Gd for fine counters, and 30s for yellow counters. Privately. however, the balance of the shipment was taken by one buyer in the course of (he afternoon, on terms withheld. Damaged was sold at 20s 3d to 3ls 3d, 520 mats and pockets, Fiji grown, sold at 28s Gd to 29s Gd for yellow counters, and 22s to 23s Gd for rations, Gouda candies were disposed of at 9Jd, and damaged Dc Eoubaix were likewise quitted at 9ifd. Devoe’s kerosene oil is moving off for trado purposes at Is 5Jd. In liquids we learn of an improved demand for rum. Sales of Lemon Hart and E.W.P. are making to arrive at 3s 7d. Mauritius.— The “Argus” reports : Advices from Mauritius have been received, via Adelaide, to 26th May. There was nothing coming to Melbourne. and only one small vessel was loading for Adelaide. Stocks have not been so low in the island for many years past. Cane grinding was expected to become general in August.
