MELBOURNE CUP. [By Electric Telegraph,] The following weights have been declared for the Melbourne Cup Spring Meeting, 1876 :~ A Gold Cup. presented by Mr James Blackwood, chairman of the Victoria Racing Club, and a sweepstakes of 20sovs each, iOft, or 5 if declared, with i'oo added. The winner of any handicap race of the value of 200 govs, after the declaration of the weights to carry 51b extra ; of two or more such races, 81b extra; of any such race of the value of 100 sovs, 31b extra ; of two or more such races, 51b extra. The second horse to receive 50 sovs, and the third 20 sovs, out of the stake. Two miles. Weights to be declared at or before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 14th June. Acceptances, with 5 sovs, to be declared to the secretaries of the V.R.C, A.J.O, or S.A.J.C, before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 9th August. The remainder of the sweepstake (10 sovs) to be made good the day of general entry. st lb
