LABOUR MARKET.
lo the Editor of the Globe, Advice to working men I give That walk about this town ; If you go to * * * * labour mart, Dont’t give him half-a-crown. For as soon as he the money gets He’ll think no more of you; ■ And what he tells you at the time You’ll find it isn’t true. He’ll send you off some miles away, You’ll think you’re right for work ; Your swag upon your back you’ve got, And a ticket from the clerk. And when you reach the place you’ll find That everything is wrong ; No food ! no work, you hav’nt got, And night is coming on. Once more upon the public road. You turn your steps to town. And curse the office and the man That’s got your half-a-crown. And when to him you go again. He’ll give you such a look, And swear about the man that called, And put it in his book. And all you’ll get for your half-crown Is mock sympathy and sorrow. He’ll say to you day after day, Oh, call again to-morrow. Yours, &c, A WORKING MAN. Christchurch, June 22.
