BILLIARDS.

To the Editor of the Globe. Sik, —Much to my surprise—l never having the most remote idea of playing a match at billiards—an advertisement appeared in your issue of Friday, 16th instant, from Mr W. Muff, of the Canterbury Billiard Room, challenging the writer to play a game of 1000 up, for £2O aside and upwards. This challenge I immediately accepted, alsc by advertisement, merely suggesting that the choice of tables should be the result of a toss. It now appears that the challenger refuses to do this, but wishes the match to come off on his table. This I consider altogether a one-sided view. I have since offered to allow him to choose any table in or out of Christchurch, only excepting his own. By inserting this letter you will oblige Yours, &c., W. B. PIERCE. British Hotel, 22nd June, 1876.
