The Customs revenue collected on Tuesday was as follows
Dunedin.— Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co report for the week ending June 10th as follows: Fat cattle— A fair number came forward, 150 head being yarded, consisting chiefly of light-weights, but good quality, for which prices were slightly firmer. We sold, on account of N. Z, and A. L. Company, Messrs Little Bros, and Wra Barry, 75 head. Bullocks brought from £9 to £il 10s ; cows, .£8 17s 6d to £lO ITs Od—prices equal to 32s per 1001 b for good quality, and 27s 6d for medium do. Fat calves—ls were yarded, which we sold at from 19s to 14s each. Fat sheep—A full supply of 2000 was penned. Wc sold, on account of Messrs Little Bros, I*. Gibson, P. McLaren, and Alex Peat, 950 head. Cross-breds, light weights, brought from 10s 6d to 11s 9d; heavy do, 13s to 14»; merino wethers, medium quality, 6s 6d (e Bs. We quote prime mutton 2jd per lb. Privately, we sold 800 merinos at quotations. Store cattle—There is still a fair demand for this description of stock. We sold by auction at Mosglel yards on Tuesday, 6th inst, on account of Mr James Wright, 110 head. Bullocks, two to three years, brought from £6 6s to £T 15s; cows and heifers, two to four years, £5 10s to £6 15s. We beg to call special attention to our sale by auction at Mosgiel on Friday, 16th inst, when we shall offer 125 head of quiet, well-bred bullocks and cows; also, some really first-class dairy cows. Store sheep—We have no transactions toreport. Country sales—On Thursday, Bth inst, we held a sale by auction at Tumal, on account of Mr Andrew Kinnimont, of the whole of his stock and farming implements. There was a good attendance, and bidding was brisk. Draught mares brought from £35 to £49 10s; yearlings, £l6 10s; foals, £l2; farming implements, satisfactory rates. Horses— Draught stock are still difficult to dispose of ; but strong cab and coach horses are in good request. On Saturday, at our yards, we sold on account of Mr George Wilson, Tokomairlro, a team of eight medium draughts, at from £2O to £i6 10s. A fair amount of light horses also changed hands. We quote heavy draughts, £45 to £55 ; medium do, £25 to £lO ; good saddle and light harness horses, £25 to £3O; medium do, £l2 to £2O; light and inferior, £5 to £lO. Sheepskins—At our weekly sale on Wednesday, there was a good attendance, and competition was active. Prices ranged as follows : Butchers’ green skins, merino, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; do, cross breds, 2s lOd to 3s 2d; station skins, Is Cd to 4s 3J, according to quality. Hides—We catalogued about 130, which were disposed of at from Us 9d to 23s 6d each, for light and medium weights, being equal to from 4d to 4Jd per ib. Grain—The market continues quietly firm, without alteration in values. Wheat—Prime samples are worth 4s 6d to 4s 9d per bushel; medium do, 4s 2d to 4s 4d. Oatsare moving off at from Is 9d to Is fOd per bushel for good feed, and Is lid to 2s for prime milling samples. For barley the demand is not very active. Prime malting may be quoted at 4s 6d to 4s 8d psr bushel; medium and inferior samples difficult to quit,
