POST-OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at Chief Post Office for the following places, as under, subject to necessary alterations:— Friday, June 2. For Nelson and Westport, per Maori, at 1.50 p.m. ; late letters, 2.10 p.m. ; railway station, 2.30 p.m. train. For Port Chalmers and Dunedin, per Beautiful Star, at 11.35 a. m ; late letters, 11.55 a.m. ; railway, 12.25 p.m. train, Saturday, June 3. For Northern ports of New Zealand, per Phoebe, at 1.50 p.m. ; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.30. Mails per s.s. Arawata will close as under : For the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 1.20 p.m. Late letters, 1.40 p.m. For Otago and Australian Colonies at 1.20p.m. Late letters, 1.40 p.m. For the Continent of Europe, India, China, and the East, &c, at I p. m. Money orders and registered letters at noon. Newspapers and book packets at 12.30 p.m. Late letters can be posted in the guard's van at the Christchurch railway station, up to 2.30 p.m. Important. The iron pillar receiver at the railway station must not be used for late letters. J. J. FITZGIBBON, Chief Postmaster.
