The Alert arrived at the Waitara on Monday, aud the Jlaude Graham at Onehunga yesterday. The schooner Acadia, Captain McKenzie, arrived yesterday afternoon, reports leaving Wellington on Saturday, and having strong aud variable wind 3 to Kaikoras. thence light variable to Heads. The Gleaner reports passing the Elibank Castle and Zior, bound South. The 8.9 Easby sailed at 1 p.m yesterday, full up to the batches. The smart brig Rio Loge leaves here for Kaipara, where she will load timber for Shanghai, at which port she will load tea for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The brigantiue 3ea Bird reports leaving Hokitika on 23rd, and having a fine run of 48 hours to the Kaikoras, Strong southerly wiuds prevailed till Monday, when alight easterly breeze brought her to the Heads, where she anchored on Monday night; ran up the harbor yesterday afternoon. The regular trading brig Byron arrived yesterday. Captain Llewellyn reports leaving Newcastle on the 11th, and having westerly winds to making the land on Sunday, 2ist, at Cape Terawiti; pas&ed Cape Campbell at 4 p.m same day, thence strong southerly winds to arrival. The ship Hudson arrived at Newcastle from this port on the 19th. The schooner Sophie and barque Hadda have arrived at Sydney, the former on the JStb, and the latter on the J7m. The barque Adelphoi left Newcastle for Lyttelton on the 19th, ?6a)laden; the ship Conflict, for San Francisco, left Newcastle same day. The brigantine Gleaner, Captain Agnew, arrived from Greymo'ith yesterday afternoon. Reports leaving on May 22nd, at 8 a.m. and having light easterly weather till off Cape Farewell, then strong S.W. winds through the Straits, passing Cape Campbe.l on the 24th, at 8 a.m. Encountered heavy S.W. breeze off the Kaikoras, sighted Bauks' Peninsula on Friday night, the wiud holding S.W. until Sunday, when it died away, thence light baffling airs to arrival. The G iadstone Pier presented a busy sight yesterday, with the four full-rigged ships, Pomona, Counteßß of Kintore, W aipa, and Euterpe, and the steamers Easby and Arawata alongside. The work done at the pier on Monday is worthy of mention, 2800 sacks of grain, 99 kegs, 53 cases, 100 bales of hay, &c, in all over 400 tons, were put into the Kasby, 1600 sacks of wheat into the Countess of Kintore, and 400 each into the Euterpe and Waipa, and besides this, ten trucks of cargo were unloaded from the Euterpe. Considering- the single line of rail this is very quick despatch. Messrs McMeckan and Blackwood's steamer Arawata, Captain Underwood, arrived at the Port Chalmers Railway pier at 7.30 a.m. on th<- 28th. She left Melbourne at 2.30 p.m. on the 22nd inst, cleared the Strait at 11 a.m. next day, carried strong S.W. winds with high breaking sea acro3B. passed the Solander at 4 p.m. on the 26th, and arrived at the Bluff at 9.30 p.m. Discharged 65 tons of cargo there, and left for fort Chalmers at 4.30 p.m. on the 27th, discharged 200 tons cargo, and leit at 4.30 p.m, arriving here at 8.15 a.m. yesterday, discharged 50 tons of cargo here, and sailed for Wellington and Nelson yesterday afternoon.
