MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH.
(Before C. L. Lee, Esq, J.P., and A. Black, Esq, J.P.] Saturday, May 27.
Drunkenness. —An inebriate for drunkenness and destroying properly was ordered to pay os and 20s, the amount of damage done.
Illegally on Premises. —William Jennings for sleeping illegally in a bus on Messrs Millet and Saunders' premises, Market place, was fined ss.
Wilful Destruction of Property.— Henry Bushell for breaking windows at Mr George Well’s house, Lincoln, was fined 10s.
Burglary. —Matthew Smith and Richard Nixon were brought up on remand charged with burglarously entering the Borough Hotel and stealing a box of clothes value £4. The evidence went to show that the prosecutor, James Stewart, was a waiter at the Borough Hotel, and that the prisoner Smith had been cook at the same hotel and knew where prosecutor kept his box, and placed the key when he went out. On Saturday night, or early on Sunday morning, both prisoners proceeded fo the place, and obtained entrance to the room in the absence of the prosecutor. They emptied one box out, taking several things, and removed another altogether. The value of the things stolen was about £4. After hearing evidence the Court committed both prisoners for trial. Lunacy. —Henry Windsor, who was remanded a week before on a charge of lunacy, was now declared to be quite recovered, and was discharged.
